Tendency tone or tendency note is a scale degree or chord-tone that has a strong tendency to resolve in a particular way. There are two tendency tones within the major scale. The first tendency tone is scale degree no. 7, which is called the leading tone and has a strong tendency to resolve up by half step. The second tendency tone is scale degree no. 4, which is called chordal seventh and has a strong tendency to resolve down by half step.

The Parallel Minor Scale and the Relative Minor Scale are two different things. The Parallel minor shares the same tonic while the Relative Minor shares the same accidentals. In this video I explain the concept of these two scales, the Parallel vs. the Relative.

Everybody know the locrian scale or the locrian mode. It is the seventh mode of the major scale and the second mode of the natural minor scale. The locrian scale is very much in use on top of half diminished chords (minor 7b5 chords) just because of scale degree no. 5, which is not a perfect fifth but a diminished fifth, meaning b5. However, many musicians prefer to use the locrian natural 2 scale, which is the 6th mode of the melodic minor scale, over a half diminished chord just to avoid the b2 scale degree of the locrian scale. Check out the video clip for more info.
