Modal Mixture - Borrowing Nots From the Phrygian Scale

The meaning of Modal Mixture is to mix or borrow notes from the parallel scale. It is very common to borrow notes from the parallel major or minor scales. Nevertheless, we can also borrow notes from some other scales in order to enrich our palette of sounds. We can borrow notes from every scale as long as we borrow notes from the parallel scale, meaning that both scales share the same tonic. In this video I'm borrowing notes from the parallel phrygian mode. The phrygian mode is very beautiful and unique. It has a strong Spanish flavor as the second scale degree is half step above its tonic. Check out the video clip for more info.
